Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky Endorses State Senator
Sara Feigenholtz for Reelection
CHICAGO — Today, State Senator Sara Feigenholtz received the endorsement of Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) in her 6th Senate District reelection campaign.
“Sara Feigenholtz has been a longtime fighter to keep abortion legal in Illinois. From ensuring that Medicaid covers abortions to requiring that insurance companies cover contraception, her leadership is a big reason why Illinois is a haven for those seeking care,” said Congresswoman Schakowsky. “When Donald Trump threatened access to choice, she took immediate action in Springfield to protect reproductive rights. Sara brings that same energy to protecting our communities and the people and families of our District every day. I’m proud to stand with her.”
For decades, Senator Feigenholtz has led transformational efforts to ensure the protection of reproductive freedom and the rights of the LGBTQ+ community in Illinois. She advocated to ban assault weapons, was the lead sponsor of the state’s Affordable Care Act expansion providing health care coverage for thousands of previously uninsured people, cut the cost of in-home care for seniors, and increased state funding for HIV treatment.
“Congresswoman Schakowsky has been on the front lines of some of the toughest battles in our state and our country,” said Senator Feigenholtz. “I’ll continue to be unrelenting in fighting those battles to ensure Illinois remains a place where people can find the care and compassion they need.
